It doesn’t matter who you are, where you live or your job title, we have all changed and so have your candidates, clients, co-workers and family. The one positive reality of the pandemic is that we knew it would eventually end like it did in other countries.

Everything changed including the normal way of conducting yourself at home, at work, interacting with family and friends, shopping and traveling. Most of you also experienced the challenges involved in working virtual, especially if you had children home from school. The two greatest challenges we faced were fear of the unknown and so many of the freedoms we took for granted, ceased to exist.

What did you learn in the past few weeks? I think we all learned there were thousands of heroes who stepped up to the plate. Everyone on the front lines, especially in the medical profession earned their wings on earth. But what about the cashiers and stockers who kept stocking food at grocery stores, or the truck drivers and Amazon employees who delivered necessities? Or the restaurants who donated their food to food banks or the endless organizations that made sure seniors, school age children and those needing help were fed.

I want you to feel great about the impact you’ve made during this time. I can’t tell you how much it meant to your candidates to hear from you. They were at home and could talk openly and as you may have noticed, many of them are rethinking their priorities. Your clients also appreciated the fact that you were there for them in good times and bad.

We’ve all be working at such an incredible pace, that hopefully you had time to recharge, learned how to properly use your ATS and completed some of those projects that you never have time to complete. Hopefully you and your family members were safe and spent quality time together. Our Profession is resilient, you are resilient, and I hope you’ve learned more about yourself and realize you are stronger, wiser and are prepared for anything after this experience.
